Help with restartitus

I suffer horribly from "restartitus" so much so that 90% of the parties I made for IWDEE I never finished with. Anyway I picked this game up because I like the IWD series and wanted something "new". But I have so many combinations I want to try. Does anyone else suffer from this? Any advice?

I cured my IWD restartitis by doing a solo Sorcerer...

With the party out of the way, a lot of interesting gameplay tactics can be experimented upon, and well, it felt good to me. In fact, I never completed IWD with a party, but only once with my solo Sorcerer. It also adds to the challenge, and it's hard to get bored with that.

Maybe go FMT solo? It's a great choice for IWDEE. Solo FMC is a good idea too.

    I'm also suffering from this.
I have played BG2 and BG2EE for at least a thousand of hours over the course of 20 years.
Yet I haven't finish a single SoA playthrough.
Now I'm also starting a new game.

Do it solo with an arcane caster. You'll have a challenge, maybe learn something (I'm learning a lot from the experience: spell combos, different strategies etc), lots of fun, and you'll get to do and see most quests. The challenge alone should be enough to keep you hooked.

I think restartitis is worse for IWD because you create all six characters yourself and are constantly second-guessing whether one of your class/stat choices might have been subpar. For BG/BG2, just pick a versatile multiclass combination like fighter/mage/thief and then fill out the rest of the party with whoever you happen to find, accepting that they'll be sub-par stat-wise.

its kind of funny actually, i never find myself having restartitis with IWD, but perhaps its because comparatively in my opinion IWD is a much smaller game ( i can do a full play through doing all the things in like 10 to 12 hours, and then finish off ToTLM and HoW in like 3-5 at most )

If you find a cure, please share it with me! You may have to interrupt my latest all-monk run of IWD2 or my 6 specialist mage run of BGEE, or my nature run of all druids in BG2EE, or my solo-dwarven defender run, or my solo bounty hunter run, or my all fighter-dual to x at level 3 run, or my.............wait, I feel a new concept forming!

    Bye...

I have tried a couple of times to solo IWD, maybe I will again. Thing is I have beaten that game and HoW (though not luremaster yet). I am having a hard time with BGIIEE. I have so many ideas of a character type I want to play (good champion, neutral ladies man, evil premade party etc...) I need to stick with one thing or this will be another game I never finish.
