Dual Class + Kits

    I literally never dual-classed back in the day, but I am considering experimenting in EE. What I'm wondering though, is how character models are handled when you dual. Does that character model switch to that of the new class or does it stay the same? Obviously I can remember Imoen's avatar looking rubbish in BG2...

    @salieri

    Your character's avatar will be that of the class you started with.

    Personally I'd like it if racial avatars were normalized and what you equipped on your person changed the way they look. But that'd require going into art assets which Overhaul doesn't have access to.

    I always felt it was rather silly because a mage/thief is probably going to wear robes rather than leather armor. That's about it, though, because a fighter/mage needs the fighter avatar to display elven chain correctly.

    Hell, maybe include an option so you could choose which avatar you want displayed should you dual-class. Because why not.

    I like that. Something that you can click on to change the avatar after you have activated the original class's ability.

    No art assets required. 1pp already does that through its improved improved Galactygon's avatar switching if it's included in BG:EE's version of 1pp.

    Maybe I didn't come across exactly as I intended.

    I meant something like one single base model, right? Because as of now, a fighter cannot wear robes and have it reflect on himself. But if there was just one model that could wear all of the things, it'd end up working out more or less the same, I think.

    You'd lose out on mages having beards, for better or worse.

    So what happens if you dual class say a thief -> specialist mage for your main char in BG1 then export to BG2?
  • IsairIsair Member Posts: 217
    @Bugrat The thief will be offered a kit and the mage will become a standard mage.

    @Isair So wait for that Thief dual Mage

    Did you start Thief or Mage, and which one gets offered the Kit on Importing into SoA, have to admit I've never toyed with that at all....

    Kind of curious.

    @Amardarial If you're a thief first then dual to mage the first class will be offered the kit, I'm not actually sure what happens if you dual from a specialist mage to a thief then import (thief wouldn't have a kit, mage may stay specialised I assume so)... Not worth having so few mage levels so why bother.

    Jan is a great NPC, if thats who you mean?

    @Isair Never ever used Jan, never much cared for him...

    @Amardarial I'm shocked.

    Give him a go one day, I never have him in the same party as Haer'dalis or Aerie because they compete for equipment. But he can be quite powerful, traps alone give him an edge. He can also use items like the bard gloves (once you have use any item), pulse ammunition with a normal crossbow, helmets & can use any spell. Comes with good equipment too.

    I also like to have 1.5 arcane & 1.5 divine casters in my party, so he's a good addition. If it's an issue with his personality then disregard my plug.

    There's my issue with him.

    Jan Jansen is quite good but he's annoying as hell. I'm cool with other people liking him though. At least he's interesting whilst being annoying. Not like, say, Korgan, who is a blatant dwarven stereotype, and annoying as hell.

    I love Jan Jansen. His stories entertain me mightily. And the banter is great.

    So, what happens if you start as a mage and dual to a cleric, and then equip both an archmage robe and a helmet?

    @salieri the helmet sits over the top of the hood.

    On topic:

    It will be based if the game will have a proper link between BG and BGII, pretty much as BGT have (but better with videos and all the stuff). or if the devs will be lazy again and will make the BG character exportable to BG II (what will be ridiculous, the game SHOULD have a link between BG and BG II otherwise it is regression).
