watchers keep First floor glitch

in Troubleshooting
I did the whole 1st floor without killing anything strong but when I use the candle, book and bell, nothing happens. game either broke or thieves are not welcome.

    I loaded your save, and managed to do everything.

    Please kill the enemies next to the portal first, then return to the altar and you'll see a dialogue popping up.

    - Ring the bell
    - Ring the bell a second time
    - Light the candle
    - Open the book
    - Ring the bell a final time
