Changing class name

einlanzereinlanzer Member Posts: 8
This seems like it shouldn't be that hard to do, but I'm having a tough time figuring it out. All I want to do is a. change the name of a kit, and/or. b. update a character's class name that appears in the information/inventory screens.

I see the change title op in EE, but it doesn't seem to do much. Does anyone have any insight?

With near infinity is possible and easy for single classes. Just need to find the right row in the dialog file, for the class name two times and the description. For multiclasses i dont know, how to modify properly.

So I'll give a specific example of something I'm trying to do. I've altered Imoen to use the Swashbuckler kit for her thief levels, so I'd like to update her class name from "mage / thief" to "swashbuckler / mage". I've tried directly changing that dialogue line and it doesn't seem to work.

Thats because you need to change the whole multiclass name from mage/thief to mage/swashbuckler. I tried it and only the mage name can be change if you edit Imoen as conjurer/thief for example. But idk the reason why mage kits work but other classes dont.

yeah that's kind of what I noticed. I find that really interesting. I assume this is an across the board thing, so if I for example have a Kensai that I dual into a mage, the screen would just say "Fighter / Mage"?

I think thats because, in the original bg1 you can dual into specialist mage, imoen thief to conjurer.
