Cleric/Ranger: No using a Bow?

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
I'm trying to solo as a cleric/ranger.
I'm still at the very beginning.
Why can't I use a bow and arrow, I find plenty.
I could use one (or two) maced.

    Clerics, even if they are multi-class or dual-class, can't use bows or edged weapons. The only way I know of to get round this is to install the Tweaks anthology mod which includes an option that allows multi- and dual-class clerics to use all the items available to both classes, which in the case of your cleric/ranger would mean you could use any weapon including bows.     Exceptionally silly would look theoretically available Archer/Cleric dual-class. ?

    My pleasure. I'm not sure about this but I think you may have to start a new game to get the changes to take effect.
