Does this party need a pure class fighter?

Okay, so background. I've put a lot of hours into BG1. I've never really played BG2 past the first chapter. So like I have a working understanding of the game but there's gonna be a lot of gaps when it comes to BG2.

The party I'm looking at is

Gorions Ward: Mage/Thief
Imoen: Thief -> Mage
Jaheira: Fighter/Druid
Anomen: Fighter -> Cleric
Rasaad: Sun Soul Monk
Aerie: Cleric/Mage

The thing is, there's no pure class fighter in this group. Do you think it's gonna be okay or should I maybe swap somebody out for a first time run through BG2?

    You would be totally fine without a pure fighter. You do not need any one particular class to play through the trilogy. That being said, they're the best at fighting, they progress in fighting the quickest and there's a point where their combat strength contrasts so well with their simplicity of use that I they become a unique addition.

    Fighter/cleric with a few buffs is generally as good if not better than a pure fighter at doing fighter stuff anyway.

    You need a tank, in this case use Anomen.
