Achievements Questions

Good day! I've become rather obsessed with achievement hunting in quite a variety of titles and platforms. I'm wondering what platforms Beamdog offers achievements for their consumers with. I'm also wondering if there might be any official insight here as to why achievements aren't being offered to all platforms that sell Beamdog titles (that normally have this sort of thing available). Across the industry, there doesn't seem to be any real sort of standards here. Any feedback is appreciated.

Steam only, as far as I know. The in-game scripts that track whether you've done the achievement in a particular run are present on all platforms, but hooking into something outside the game to display the popup is platform-specific.

Thank you for the details! I was very curious how something like this worked and why consumers are very often left hanging for this sort of thing. To be clear then, it's the various platforms (that do have achievement systems) that are choosing not to offer them to their consumers? In the examples here, Beamdog does offer them to all consumers, but platforms choose not to make them available?

    https://docs.gog.com/achievements/

I came across this document page when I was looking for how achievements are added at GOG. Are the instructions here extremely difficult for Beamdog developers to follow? Are there, perhaps, legal binding issues with Steam that would prevent developers from making their achievements available to other platforms? Again, any insight or feedback is certainly appreciated. I have received official feedback from Beamdog that they'd like to make the achievements available, but I haven't heard the reasoning behind what is taking years for consumers receiving support here.

Unlike Steam, the GoG version does not expect you to be always online. No point in doing achievements if you're not connected to the tracking server.
