Baldur's Gate I and II multiplayer connection problems

cawferscawfers Member Posts: 8
My friend and I have been trying to play together for some time now and we have tried almost everything at our disposal and nothing worked. The main problem is that whenever we try to connect to the other's game the game freezes and kicks the player out. It doesn't happen when it's a new game with no characters created, but the player is kicked as soon as any character has finished creation.

Funny thing is - we already played through the game together in the past, more than once, modded even.

I've checked the network text document after trying connection and it says "failed to retrieve character information" and "Peer disconnected from XMPP"

We already tried running on a completely new installation (including the /documents with character portraits, configurations and such) and it didn't work.

Our firewalls already permits BG1 and BG2

I already tried hamachi, didn't work

Obs.: I can still connect and play with random people, although some still don't work (same issue).

Any thoughts?

    are your frame rates matching? if your frame rates arent the same, you will not be able to connect to one another, also for BG1EE, if one player has SoD installed and the other doesnt, then the games will not connect with one another

    We have the same frame rate (30 fps) and we don't play with SoD.

    what about game versions? do you both have the same version?

    also, do either of you have a VPN? if so try turning that off, i know it may feel unsafe having a VPN off, but sometimes a VPN can cause connectivity issues

    are you guys connecting through PC? or phone? also, how sure are you that you are only signed into BG 1 or 2 with one account? a google search says this;

    Resource Conflicts: If another device or app logs in with the exact same JID (Jabber ID) and resource name, the server will kick the older connection. Solution: Make sure you aren't logged into the same account on multiple devices, or alter the resource name (e.g., user@server/phone vs user@server/laptop).
