How to make the Words of Creation feat from Book of Exalted Deeds?

Greetings, all!

I've never coded anything before with NWN, normal or EE. Let's assume I wanted to use NWNEE's scripting to add Words of Creation to the game (official full effects). This feat is ultimately meant to be added to the PRC8 mod. (I know Jaysyn is in charge of that but after discussing this feat with him, he said he wanted to first properly implement nonlethal damage into NWN since that's rules as written or RAW for Words of Creation's damage.)

I assume only a Good-aligned character with the Words of Creation feat can use it, and if their alignment changes to non-Good, the benefits are paused/rendered inactive until the character's alignment is again Good.

I understand D&D 3.5's Bardic Music isn't 1:1 with NWN's. This is my proposed implementation to account for its full effects:

-Auto-Extend any Conjuration (Creation) spell or ability with a non-instant, non-permanent duration.

-Grant +4 to all Craft skills as an untyped bonus.

-Give a +1 sacred bonus to caster level on [Good] spells by taking d4 damage per 2 spell levels, starting with d4 damage for spell levels 2 or 3, 2d4 for levels 4 or 5, 3d4 for levels 6 or 7, and 4d4 for levels 8 or 9. (By RAW it's nonlethal, but making it divine damage and causing Undead and Constructs to be immune to it is my preferred present interpretation.) This is implemented as a toggle (Words of Creation Caster Level Bonus), and off by default.

-[MAIN REASON FOR FEAT!] Grant Bardic Music bonuses in 4 phases with increasing and stacking bonuses and increased damage per phase. (Only the highest damage value applies, meaning if you'd take 6d4 damage from Phase 2, you don't also take 3d4 damage from Phase 1.) This is implemented as a a separate radial menu toggle with one option per level of intensity, and off by default. Damage taken is by RAW nonlethal, but I assume it's divine damage and functions as above.

PHASE 1 (Courage - Requires Bard1 & 3 Perform Ranks): Take 3d4 damage and grant an additional +1 to accuracy and damage at Bard levels 1, 8, 14, and 20. Also doubles Will save bonuses but not penalties, if any, from Bard Song.

PHASE 2 (Competence - Requires Bard3 & 6 Perform Ranks): Take 6d4 damage and grant an additional +2 competence bonus to skills.

PHASE 3 (Greatness - Requires Bard9 & 12 Perform Ranks): Take 12d4 damage and grant an additional +2 competence bonus to accuracy, an additional +1 competence bonus to Fortitude saves, and an additional +12 temporary HP (stacks with existing Bard Song temp HP).

PHASE 4 (Competence - Requires Bard15 & 18 Perform Ranks): Take 18d4 damage and grant an additional +4 morale bonus to all saves and an additional +4 Dodge bonus to AC.

Thankee!

Yeah, looking through those full effects, it talks a lot about spells that are not implemented in NWN.
I have done very little with feat manipulation, so I might not have all the details, but I can give you an idea of the scope of the work that will need to be done just for the first effect you mention.
You will need to edit the bard class 2da file and add a custom feat. you'll need to make a script for that custom feat. Each bard spell script, with a duration, will need to be modified to check if the caster has the custom feat active to double the duration. If this is something that should also happen to scrolls, then every spell with a duration will need to be modified.

Where are the best places to check and best people to consult on how to implement this since I know it's complex?

    Thankee!

You can ask the nwn vault forums too. https://forum.neverwintervault.org/c/nwn1/build/7
They might have more traffic than here.
Looks like no one ever made a tutorial for adding custom feats in the lexicon, so you might have to search the bowels of the internet for one.

I updated the original post with clarifications, including the minimum required Bard levels.

    Thankee!
