[User]/Documents/Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition Folder NOT CREATED

Hi,

I've installed BGEE with Beamdog Client. I tried to play but it crashes just when I click to the icon.

Then, I saw that the folder Documents/Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition that people speak of in that forum...simply doesnt exists in my PC.

I have Windows 7 64 bits.

PD: I tried to uninstall BGEE with the Beamdog remover and reinstall and the same thing happens.

So, what must I do?

Thanks.

Same problem, same OS. Tried Beamdog first, then the other thing. It created the folder that time but no baldur.ini. Trying Beamdog again.

Yes i think this may be my issue too: no baldur.ini

Is it something we can just copy into the folder if someone kindly posts it?
  • CorsymyrCorsymyr Member Posts: 146
The folders and INI file will not create until you successfully launch the application. Check your Windows Application Log for the error and post it. Lot's of possibilities and remedies.

    Good luck!

Ok... will try that Corsymyr, many thanks.

Would you be kind enough to advise where i can find Windows Application Log?

    Sure ...

Left click "Start" - Right click "Computer" - From the Drop Down menu Left click "Manage". Computer Management should open

In the left pane Double Left click "Event Viewer". Now Double left click "Windows Logs". Now Single Left click "Application".

Now the center pane should show you some entries with Red Exclamations next to them. Double Left click the entries in error, and select Copy. You can now paste the error here.

    I hope that makes sense!

@Varyahen Sorry my friend but you have the same error I do, and I still have not found a fix anywhere for it. Most of the errors are video related, ours seems otherwise. Here is my orignal post on it.

Thanks Corsymyr, I'll keep an eye to your post and if I discover something I'll post here and in your post.

@kverdon Your error looks fixable from the what I have read on the forums. Try all the steps in this post.

    Good luck!

Sadly, as I posted in that thread, none of the proposed solutions appear to work for the ntdll.dll error.
  • TrappistTrappist Member Posts: 14
Kverdon, i think we have the same issue you and i.

Have you been able to uninstall BGEE? I cant find out how to do that. Only uninstall option i see is for the beamdog launcher.
  • VaryahenVaryahen Member Posts: 224
Trappist, If you have installed BGEE through Beamdog Client, you have to remove it from there, too. There is a button in the client. Click in BGEE into the Beamdog Client panel.
  • CorsymyrCorsymyr Member Posts: 146
@kverdon Try moving your install to the root of C:\

@Trappist Not to be redundent, but have you tried to install all 3 of C++ redistributables?

    Good luck!
  • TrappistTrappist Member Posts: 14
Varyahen, Thanks i uninstalled, ill try again!

Corsymyr, Your advice is never redundent, but unfortunatley its way over my head there, i havent installed any C++ stuff as far as i know. I'm a bit of a Ludite.

Ill be back in about 5hrs i guess! gl to you all.

That Worked! Moving to C:\Games\00766 and running the Baldur.exe with "run as admin", WIndows Vista Sp1 compatiblity and "Disable Display scaling on High DPI settings" allowed the game to launch. I'm not pleased with this solution as my C:\ drive is reserved only for my OS but at least it works now, well at least starts.

    Corsymyr, have you tried this?
  • owlronowlron Member Posts: 5
Sadly that did not work for me. I did the C:\Games install path thing, the run as admin thing, and tried all sorts of compatibility things. I have an nvidia graphics card with no option to run with integrated graphics so I don't think that's the issue. I get the same ntdll thing as above.

    @Varyahen

Yes ... I have tried that now with 3 separate installs. The error I am getting is Baldur.exe is crashing the module Baldur.exe.

    See this post.

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else with this problem (I'm also running Vista, tried all general workarounds that have been listed, re-installed to both standalone and Beamdog itself, moved to C: yadda yadda yadda) gets this error when trying to run the game directly from Baldur.exe:

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect."

That's the middle of the error message that pops up and I know that some others have had it but none of the workarounds that worked for them have worked for me. Am I in the same boat as you guys or is this another issue?
  • TrappistTrappist Member Posts: 14
reinstall tried, game still not starting, back to the drawing board...

    This is the link to a download that eventually got things going for me;

    http://www.beamdog.com/files/prerequisites/vcredist_x86_2008.exe

Hadn't tried it initially as it was listed as fixing XP problems when I'm running Vista.
