BlackGuard Int 8 Wisdom 14 the rest maxed- does his spell casting suffer later in BG2?

I made an angry Black Guard who does not get along well with others...

Question: Can he cast all the Paladin spells in BG2?.... Will he get less spells with the low wisdom score than an 18 wisdom Paladin? Will an EIGHT Intelligence matter?

Game starting Stats that took an hour to roll up while listening to a podcast....

Str 18 (71) (he was taking some funny treatments from a mad doctor in the crypts with Lance)
Dex 18 (he dodged many goodly nunnery nuns justified rod beatdowns)
Con 18 (his head became inured to all the injurious head banging he did in blackminded rages)
Int 8 ( he did not study at the covenant his mama abandoned him at)
Wis 14 ( he became wise from reading tomes in Candlekeep when he was not at the nunnery)
Chr 18 ( he learned to be magnanimous from cute little Imoen)

    Oh god, because it would be awful if he wasn't just excellent at everything he ever does

    (and no :p)

    From memory, you can't use scrolls or wands, divine casting should otherwise be unaffected.

    @Beowulf No. He won't suffer. In Pen and Paper, he'd be a bit slow, but wise enough to know to try and compensate for his lack of intelligence,

    he'd 9 after the int manual, so yes, he could use wands a scrolls...maybe..

    Just like a paladin, wisdom doesn't do shat for your spell casting.

    10+ int would've been better...mindflayers are nasty.

    Swap int and wisdom and he'd have nice stats. After the manual and lum, you could take 3 regular mindflayer hits before dying.

    When does they get cleric spells? Dorn is like level 8 in my game and he didn't got spells yet.

    And unless it has changed, paladins do not get any bonus for high wisdom anyway.

    I think you should get your first preist spell at level 8. Not 100% sure though, maybe it's level 9 instead?

    According to that link it is level 9.

    Ranger = lv 8
    Paladin = lv 9

    Neither paladins nor rangers get bonus spells for high wisdom. Int 9 is required to cast from scrolls.

    I'd be more concerned that your Blackguard's strength is only 18/71.

    I really wish a low intelligence in Baldur's Gate was like low intelligence in Fallout.

    Ahh ok great looks like he will be fine unless he is hit by a brain drain intel loving cia mind flayer. And he may be a Black Guard but he is not killing children like some 12 year old in the game... however he was insulted when he spoke to Winthrope and he called him a Brat... consequently he cut him down despite the reputation loss...( looking forward to see if Winthope is resurrected from that later) however Unlike BG1 Flaccid the Wizard in the Inn did not become hostile and blast his level oneness to magic missile death...

    This Black Guard is going to Own the Battlefield when he casts Clerical Draw on Holly Might and the other 5th or sixth level ones... I forgot the name but I recall it buffed a certain weak and stamina missing elf lass to a massive 25 strength and big con score in BG2.... I have forgotten the level name of it - not Champions strength - that is a limiter if you have an already buffed strength score... I can not recall the name of it - I do remember being impressed that the weak clerics buffed like Juggernauts with it and a combo of draw on holy might... I know I seem like an awful powergamer - but I did play for quite a bit with a very low Constitution turnip lover and one fireball shot slain whose of a thespian... but I could never force myself to play a Grey Mouser Swashbuckler....

    SO a bit off topic and forgive my Munchinkin Power Gamer tendency but....

    QUESTION: In BG2 Enhanced---
    Can I play a regular fighter to level 7/8 or 9 and then duel class him to a Swashbuckler? (the Grey Mouser) or an Assassin? (Arti the Drizzit Bane)

    When you dual class, only your first class can be a kit, unfortunately.

    hmm to bad - I know it was like that in BG2 no-enhanced/TOB ... but I was hoping they could make that possible in Enhanced BG2

    Yes, you'll be two-shot by mind flayers with less than 11 in intelligence.

    Er... why? 18/71 is a great strength score and can be increased to 19 later in the game with a tome

    yeah, 01-50 is the only fighter str that outright sucks (just +1 damage over plain 18). 18/00 would've been ideal of course, but then the str manual would've been meh (just +1 damage and 100 more weight), and given how hard it is to get 18/00 AND good rolls, I'd say he did fine...71 is +2 hit, +4 damage if memory serves.
