I just found the perfect nonviolent strategy for defeating Sarevok...

-Pick the elf race...
-At the start of the game, click rest to rest for 8 hours...
-Click rest for 110,000 more times....!
-100 years will have passed
-Since Sarevok is a human, he will die from old age...
-Also, Gorion wont die since he could have escaped the encounter w/ Sarevok w/o the need for protecting you.

Gorion is also human, and shall die in the early chapters of the resting game from hitting his maximum lifespan.

    LOL

But then you have Abazigal, Sendai and Yaga Shura to deal with...

I imagine being a child of bhaal would extend serevoks lifespan.

Not to mention he was coming to Candlekeep to kill you anyway. The fact you tried to run only saved him the trouble of entering the keep, something we know he wanted to do eventually anyway. ..

Not to foil your plans or anything, trying to rest in candlekeep the guards will come yell at you in about 5 minutes after you attempt to start resting. So unless you pay the innkeeper 110000 gold you wont be allowed to rest there for that time.

Might and Magic had a solution for this kind of "narcolepsy": when you just slept without doing anything in between, first the party went insane and then they died. Kind of harsh.

Winner! The war of attrition always wins.

Some people point out that you would have been hunted down so...

You could have at least hung out on the Isle of Baldurian that no knew of. Good luck finding you there.

It won't work, because if you try to rest in the street in Candlekeep, the guards will wake you up and tell you to go find an inn.

Winthrop is a nice fellow, but I doubt if he (or his heirs) will allow you to sleep for free in his inn for 100 years.

    :-p

You could also pacifistically surrender to Sarevok. :P

The same strategy applies to Irenicus at the expense of Imoen and Minsc transform into a pile of bones (resting for 100 years inside his dungeon). Upon leaving the dungeon, Irenicus exclaims: "To end like this..?!" and collapses.
