You have to understand that there's a difference between "play the game" and "play the game."
We all play the game on a very regular basis. We are constantly testing the game, playing through, testing new additions. We know this game better than the backs of our hands.
We don't, however, have time to leisurely go through and play.
When you have tested a dialogue 20 times to find that one obscure bug where an NPC doesn't leave when she's supposed to... no.
Most of the game where I don't personally have to spend hours painstakingly loading and reloading a certain area? Definitely. Baldur's Gate 2 is a classic. There's a reason I've been modding for 7 years.
My comment was meant as tongue in cheek, although i admit that i think BGEE is far off being a finished product, i am at least glad you've attempted it.
You guys should set aside a couple hours a week and play a MP campaign together! (on the clock of course)
I'm sure if they did that the less happy with EE fans of the series would be extremely upset that they were slacking off and... well, lets just say we may not have devs anymore after that
Pardon me for quoting the Bible, but, this discussion has made me think of this:
"Greater love hath no man, than that he give up his life for a friend."
The devs have such love for the game of BG, and for us the fans, that they have "given up their lives", as well as their ability to enjoy the game for themselves, for the fans. They are doing everything they can, including, ironically, giving up their own enjoyment of that which they are trying to save, to keep our game alive and well.
Extending the metaphor a bit, I thank them all anew for creating a kind of "Easter" for our game. (And my apologies to anyone who might take offense at my drawing upon the Christian religion for metaphors to express my profound gratitude to the devs of BG:EE.)

but hopefully some day you can fix the games up to the point at which you can
So there are worse things than death...
