Level cap remover for Baldur's Gate TotSC

DtoxDtox Member Posts: 4
Hi, I'm new to the forums, and I was wondering if I could get some help with this...

I'm looking for a level cap remover for Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword coast, as I am running a solo fighter and would like the extra experience. I've seen various threads and forums that have advertised a level cap remover, but they're all for the enhanced edition.

The thing is, I'm running the Baldur's gate game off of GoG.com, the classic version, not the enhanced edition. I was wondering if anyone here knows of any level cap remover that would work with this version of the game.

There is a component of BG Tweaks that does that.

If you are using vanilla BG1, you can install BG1 Tweaks

If you are using BG1Tutu, EasyTutu or BGT, you have to install BG2 Tweaks instead:

Right, so I did the first one, and all I had installed was the "remove experience cap."

Except, now, every time I go into a game of mine, it immediately goes into the options menu. I can get out of it for a second, and the game will appear to be just fine, but then it'll go right back to the options menu, as if I'm hitting the ESC key.

    Any idea why?

EDIT: I think I fixed it. I went into key bindings and disabled the hotkey for the options menu (Which was O), and that seems to have fixed my problem. the only thing strange about it is that I never used the O key to go to the options, just the ESC key, and now neither of them work. I'm not sure why the component I installed would be related to a key binding to begin with.

Also, the experience cap remover works, thanks a bunch for the help.

I don't think your binding problem is caused by BG1 Tweaks.

In fact, I tested it installing just the "remove xp cap" component on my vanilla BG1 install (it is from GOG also) and I didn't experience your issue. It doesn't display the option menu unless I press the O key on purpose (ESC doesn't work and I believe it is not suppose to work by default).

Still no idea what's causing this problem for you, but I'm glad that you managed to find some kind of fix.
