Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc proficiencies choice

I have Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc andDynaheir.
What proficiencies did you guys gave Jaheira, Khalid and Minsc after level 1 ?

I was thinking giving jaheira sling or staff
For Minsc, twohanded weapon
and for Khalid, either continue in longsword and bows

what do you guys went with up until the end ?

If I were using those characters I would probably do the same.

You might want to give Khalid a proficiency in a blunt weapon at level 3. At level 6, consider specializing in axes, as there is a throwing ax that returns to the thrower you can find late game.

    Here's what I do:
Jaheira-specialise in sling at lvl 3, go sword&shield style:always club/shield or sling/shield. There are good magical clubs. Mages can use staves, Jaheira should always benefit from a heavy shield.
Khalid-specialise in longbow at lvl 3, because bows are very powerful weapons. Next proficiency is based on party, if more melee is needed get mastery at longsword. If there are tanks enough, go longbow mastery. Khalid pulls either well.
    Minsc-two handed style ++ and longbow++ is a must.

Khalid with ++++ on longswords. He becomes the best fighter in the game (with Kagain) later on with proper itemization / spell support.

Jaheira with ++ on staves and + on 2h spec. She also is amazing as a support frontliner with her great consitution and if you give her the dex gloves. Her strength is good enough to wear great armor. Her low wisdom score isn't a huge deal as she will most likely be casting spells that have fast cast (def harmony, strength of one, cure disease, etc) to not lose melee time and prebuffing with blessings instead of being the be-all-end-all priest for the group.

Minsc gets +++ on dual wielding and ++ on maces. BG1 is is full of penalties to piercing/slashing weapon types, but not so much against blunts, so you get a lot better hit rate with maces than swords. I consider Minsc one of the weaker characters in the game (considering how many Strength altering methods there are in BG:EE). If you don't like him, try to replace him with someone else.

Don't take Shield and weapon specialization. The +2/+4 AC vs missile is not worth it. You can get a full plate and large shield +1 very quickly in the game and anymore AC vs missile there isn't worth the points.

I use the canon party too, which is working well on the whole.

As an aside, many people have commented on how good Jaheira is, but perhaps I don't know how to use her yet... for me she is my most useless character. Apart from her healing utility, she is relatively useless in battles. She struggles to hit anything remotely dangerous, cannot tank much incoming damage and the benefit of her buffs aren't obvious (I just use Bless when I anticipate a tough battle, and sometimes use Barkskin to protect Dynaheir, Imoen and Jaheira). I guess she is supposed to be a support character anyway, but I just don't feel I am getting the most out of her.

Jaheira gets a lot better in BG2, with stat buffs and a far better spell selection. During BG1 she is a secondary tank and can heal and do a bit of summoning. I like her, but she has significant limitations.

Druid spell selection sucks. They get a small number of great spells that get lost among lots of poor ones. If you make use of summon woodland being and summon insects against casters you'll get a lot more mileage out of Jaheira. In BG2 she gets ironskins and insect plague and starts becoming a powerhouse, but more of that later.
