Shall we use BG1 or BG2 weapon proficiency types in our corrections ?

Shall we use the BG1 or the BG2 weapon proficiency types in our corrections ?
I mean, in BG1, for instance, daggers are classified in the "small sword" proficiency type, although, in BG2, they are classified in the "dagger" proficiency type.

I was wondering because one of my guys asked if he should correct the descriptions of the weapons just like they would be in BG2 (with the new proficiency types, among other things).
