Mod-able or Feature Request: Unused Item Categories

The Item categories 60-68 (leather, studded, chain, splint, plate, full, hide, robe, scale) are functional enough to be used, however they all lack an equipped appearance, using the default(unarmored) appearance instead of whichever is assigned in the itm file.
The Item category 57 (great swords) is the same, functional without any equipped appearance or animation (animated as if unarmed).

The Item categories 41,47,49,&53 (buckler and s/m/l shields) crash the game when equipped.

None of these highlight their equip-able slot when picked up in the inventory, nor can they be equipped by dropping it on the paper doll, it must be dropped directly into the correct slot.

Is there any known way to fix these issues with existing externalization, or will it require a Feature request. Should any of it be reported as a bug?
