What kind of dual classable character would you like to see in Shadows of Amn?

I personally think dual classing is pretty cool from a roleplaying and mechanical point of view, and kind of wish there were more options. I'd like a character that could go two different directions, but really any character with a dual classing option would be pretty sweet.
I'd like to see what others like, so here is my poll. Which character build would you like to see if there were to be a new NPC in the game that was capable of dual-classing?
Note: I'm generally avoiding spellcasting classes that can dual into a martial class, but feel free to discuss them!

I like the ideas of a
thief-->fighter (interesting roleplaying)
mage-->cleric (interesting rp and I'd love to use the robe of vecna on some high level cleric spells)
ranger-->cleric (interesting roleplay)
And there are no C/T in BG2.
I'd like to match it with a roleplaying choice. Like say the character chooses Quest Option A they get plus 2 intelligence and can go mage or if they choose Quest Option B they can hit the gym and become a fighter. That sort of thing would be cool and remind me somewhat of the Planescape Torment style of dual classing, which I found very enjoyable.
This would be my choice, and it would be even more fun with a specialty mage that worships a god that matches his/her school of magic
For example a diviner that likes Deneir or a Transmuter who failed at using alchemy to make gold and now tries to do it through honest trade by worshiping Waukeen, lol
speaking of which I'd like to transmute my 9th poll option
but a thief > cleric just has so much potential flavour
plus its no secret I just really want more thieves
I also like cleric to mage, and assassin to fighter. Maybe another specislist mage to cleric.
Shadowdancing fighter just sounds badass
I'm surprised there's no option in the poll for Fighter->Thief, I'd have thought that might be a fairly popular choice. (Yes, I know you can do that with Sarevok, but that's not until ToB and this poll is about SoA options - and IMO, ToB is too late for dualling to be sensible.)

I kind of toy with the idea of a Mage/Cleric of Mystra dual class, where you can decide at installation which class they're progressing in.
