bg questions

I have been playing both BG:EE and the BGII:EE and had some questions with regards to them.

In BG:EE I noticed a much nicer looking interface, and several new and imo better voice sets. And it may be my imagination but the sound and music seems separated into channels which feels more engaging to me. However in BG2 I never noticed any of this. No new interface, no new voice sets carrying over and the sound doesn't seem as dynamic.

I know a lot of the original art work was lost and I know about the court battles with Bioware, was it? I don't know much of the details and what they were trying to prevent. It's a shame BeamDog didn't secure the rights to Icewind Dale at the same time, though the story was not as deep the game had some nicer spell effects and other things that would have benefited the BG series to be even greater. But the game, other than widescreen and some new characters doesn't seem much different to me. In the original I never encountered any bugs or glitches so I notice nothing different there. Anyone know why some of these things never carried over?

Thanks

Also I read recently that BeamDog has no current rights to IceWind Dale or Torment, and that they were focused now on the BG series. So what kind of things are they focusing on those games with, does anyone know?

Anyone heard of any plans soon for new content or new projects? Thanks again.

The new voice sets and portraits not being available in both the EEs is an oversight that supposedly is getting fixed. Apart from colouration, the UI in both the games are the same, though BGII:EE has a "loot button" that hasn't been backported to BG:EE yet. Bioware has never caused any grief for Overhaul, quite the contrary, though there was a mess with Atari and of course WotC/Hasbro are always being a pain to everyone everywhere.

Apparently there is more content coming out for BG:EE, currently codenamed "Adventure Y" though that's pretty much everything we know about it. Both games have a ton of bug fixes, there's new content via the new companions and there's several new sub-classes (and classes for the first game). There's also a lot of QoL improvements like bigger stack sizes, lack of loading screens and bags for the first game.

As for Icewind Dale or Torment EE you shouldn't rule out either happening. Both are projects they want to do but starting a brand new project doesn't seem to be the first thing on their list.

I love the colorization in bg:EE one that they did but I suppose that makes it unique. The look button I never noticed, thanks for pointing that out I really like that feature.

Some fans will remember the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the BGEE UI when screenshots of it were first released. But anyway, fwiw I agree that the UI for BGEE is a little more attractive.

"Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition is on indefinite hold, as is the current patch,” said Trent Oster. “Baldur’s Gate III, we are still interested in the concept, but currently I’d say were very demoralized.”

was one of the things I meant. Was it WoTC that was causing the headache? I read they are hard to please. What did they do causing that?

Wasn't that a whole ago? Last summer there where legal issues and the stopped work on the patch, development, and selling the game. Pretty much all we know is shit went down, and Atari, and I think WoTC where involved, and hasbro. We never got any details.

I believe that was mostly related to Atari's bankruptcy. As far as I know, things have been resolved. But what that means for IWDEE or BG3 I have no idea.
