Removing Self From Notifications/Updates?

in Site Resources
If one were to become no longer interested in the updates for a particular topic, what steps does one take to prevent receiving updates for said topic in each of the following areas?

    On the top left side, below your username, is a gear icon. Click it and choose Edit Profile, then Notifications.
