The only restriction might be: Only one specialist class. Also alignment restrictions should stay.

Let this stay as it is. Everything else can be done with EE-Keeper and mods.

I believe there should be disadvantages and advantages to everything. Without restrictions, there will be basically "this class combination is viable, the others are not" and it doesn't encourage "I want to play class I want because I like it/that's my fnatasy" factor.

It could bet like 3rd editon rules only better. A fighter Sorcerer combo is too overpowered, the game becomes boring.
But you could pick something that is fun to play. e.g. a Ranger/Mage. An Archer dualled to Rogue. Fighter Paladin combo would be cool.
There is currently a one size fits all approach.

Well, we could lessen it up a little. It's very restrictive right now, and not everyone can use EEkeeper.

There is a patch: Level 1 npcs
Its user friendly, but not as good as being integrated

I'd rather they stick as close to PnP as possible.

Remove the restrictions on Dual-classing for humans (they can dual as anything they want, as long as they meet the requirements for dual-classing. Can dual into a kit, but only 1 kit total per character.)

    And add-in the missing multi-classes.

    Half-Elf -
    Ranger/Druid
    Druid/Mage
    Fighter/Druid/Mage
    Fighter/Bard

    Dwarf -
    Fighter/Skald

    Gnome -
    Thief/Jester

I like it the way it is. It was modeled after PnP and while they failed in some places and succeeded in others I like the class system the way it is. It's easy enough to get mods or use the keeper to modify you kits and classes. After a long time of playing I've had my restrictions removed for several weeks now (eg. Humans can now multi-class, all combos available to all) just to spice things up a little. But that shouldn't be the vanilla as intended way to play it.
