I have BGII v 1.3

I start via the Beamdog launch pad and it takes me to the menu where I can pick Shadows of Amn, Throne of Baal, and Black Pits II.

I select Shadows and all it does is go to a black screen and I have to ctrl-alt-delete to get back out of the game.

Anybody know how I can get past that point?

Try the new Baldur's Gate v1.3.2053. Also mention what your video card is and whether or not you're using the latest drivers for it (Obtain the drivers from either the Nvidia or AMD website, not from Windows Update).

Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series - checking for updated drivers online instead of the windows update thing now. And the BG2:EE I just downloaded today via the beamdog launcher tool.

Okay I left is alone for about 20 minutes and I got to the screen where the text of the Bhaal prophecy is shown on the screen.

Ignore the part of my previous comment about trying v1.3.2053 because I didn't realize this was discussing the 2nd game. Baldur's Gate II is still at v1.2.xxxx

I have no clue if this will work or if it even functions but you can try the following:

    1) Open the games configuration file with Wordpad (Not Notepad)
    2) Find the setting called 'Program Options', 'Backwards Compatible 3d', '0',
    3) Change the 0 to a 1
    4) Try the game again

If it is still not working then try the following:

    1) Undo the previous change
    2) Open the games configuration file with Wordpad (Not Notepad)
    3) Find the setting called 'Window', 'Full Screen', '1',
    4) Change the 1 to a 0
    5) Try the game again

Oh well it started working when I left my In-laws house and returned home. Yet more proof of their evil
