Cross-Platform Windows/Mac play

Hello and someone please help! I'm new to the game and am trying to play with my PC using friend. I am running Baldur's Gate II EE on a Mac. The game is supposed to be cross-platform, so I figured we could play together, However whenever we attempt to join each other's multiplayer games, It does not work. I can create a game, but it does not show up on his game list, neither do his games show up on mine. If it makes any difference, I got my BGII EE through the Mac App store, and he got his through Steam. Please Help!

    The next patch will address the version number discrepancy, as well as greatly improve general multiplayer performance.
