Greenest

When was it founded? When did Dharva Scatterheart die? When did Tarbaw Nighthill become the Governer?

Thanks :D

You might have better luck asking over at the Candlekeep Forums: http://forum.candlekeep.com/ or at Wizards' own community site: http://community.wizards.com/

That said, from what I've read about the new adventures in the Realms WotC has been intentionally vague about some dates in order to give individual DMs the freedom to work the adventures into their own campaigns. The Tyranny of Dragons season began in 1489 DR, but I'm not sure how that would relate to your specific questions.

  • Thanks for the help :D

I've seen a map of 2E Faerun and Greenest isn't there but according to lore (supposedly), 2E is only in 1367DR and everything from 1367-1372/3DR is 3rd Edition.

And I think the 4th Edition Player's Guide for the Realms was set in 1479. The time jump leaves a lot of room for towns to pop up.
  • What edition is between 1373 and 1479? 3rd?

In the change to 4th Edition the designers decided there was a need to shake up the Realms and get rid of the weight of existing lore, as well as eliminate a lot of powerful NPCs who apparently discouraged some players from wanting to visit the Realms. So, they came up with an event called the Spellplague which kicked off with the murder of Mystra, goddess of magic, and resulted in a magical blue firestorm which blew up large chunks of the world, elminated whole nations, introduced races, and a variety of other things. In addition to all of that the designers jumped the timeline ahead 100 years, with the specific events of the Spellplague set in the past.

So, there really wasn't an edition set between 1373 and 1479. Other than the major changes to nations and geography, it's all up to the DMs.

  • Interesting :3

The Spellplague was indeed a bold move. Could I also ask what years 2nd Edition was meant to be within? It seems strange to just have an edition for 1367DR (if what I've read is right), especially if the BG games are set in 2E as well.

I think FR had its first source books come out in 1987, so thats the tale end of 1st ed I think. The thing is, everything gets semi-retconned with new editions, ie Drizzt got converted to 3rd.

1st Edition Realms set in 1357

Time of Troubles occurs in 1358 (used as storyline explanation for rules changes to 2nd Edition)

2nd Edition Realms set in 1367

    3rd Edition set in 1372

Spellplague happens in 1386 (another storyline explanation for rules changes, this time for 4th)

    4th Edition set in 1479

5th Edition first novel set in 1484 (and presumably The Sundering begins around this time as well - another storyline explanation for rules changes)

5th Edition organized Adventurer's League play sessions begin in 1489.

The thing about the timeline is that products released after the boxed sets and player's handbooks usually advance the timeline a bit, so even though the 2nd Edition might begin with the time set in the first official release, it moves as the novels and adventures are released.

I gathered a lot of this information from http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Forgotten_Realms and you can read more timeline product dates here: http://community.wizards.com/content/forum-topic/3525736
