Does someone know the mechanics on Assassin and Thief Backstabbing compared to Assassin and Thief Sneak Attack.
The Assassins Backstab multiplier will eventual reach 7x and the Thief 5x.
Does the assassin get a similar advantage when using 3rd editon sneak attack.
I apologise if this has already been answered in another thread, but I did not find anything related to my topic.

In 2E backstab, assassins and thieves get the exact same multiplier until higher level where assassins cap out at x7 instead of x5. And since assassins get their thieving points at a rate of 15 per level.. That just makes the class a bit gimped in terms of thieving. Take note that you also need to hide in shadow/be invisible in order to backstab, as opposed to moving behind an enemy, regardless of stealth, to sneak attack.
And since sneak attack is based on level progression, thieves cap out their sneak attack for 8d6 damage at lvl30, while assassins have 11d6 at lvl30.
Assassins get immensely buffed with Sneak Attack, though not gamebreakingly so.
