Imported BG:EE Character has more than 161k XP at start of BGII:EE

Hi - Please could I ask for some guidance. On import of a character with a capped 161k in BG:EE he starts BG:II EE with MORE than 161k. I've tested this for instance by CLUA'ing 200k onto a BG:EE character and importing the character file - he is capped at 161k in BG:EE but has 200k at start of BG:II EE. Does anyone know if this intentional or a bug?
