So I've got a game design degree and I'm looking to start making some mods to improve my skills and portfolio. The only problem is I have absolutely no idea where to even start. Any advice/good tutorials for a noob?

The best advice you can get for the BG / IWD series is to get EEKeeper and Infinity Engine.
MY advice is that you get those and play around with them. Don't follow any tutorials right off the bat, mess around with the functions and such and get a feel of how everything works before you dive into tutorials, because if you do that, you're going to be confused (Most likely).

The meat of IE game mods is in WeiDu. I have only dipped my toes in the shallowest of waters... but this tutorial was very helpful to me for getting a grasp of the basics.
