    OK, to avoid problems with spoilers, I'll just say that the cultists must have installed really really good soundproofing in their demonic den. The guys below remain blissfully unaware that you are slaughtering their comrades upstairs, and just stand around instead of either coming to the rescue or forting up downstairs.

    Not at all. If you've drawn your signs and sigils, prepared a ritual and are in the middle of trying to do what they're doing you can NOT be distracted or stop as the results of doing it improperly would likely be more disastrous than doing it right proved to be. Also they assume that
    once their "god" appears he'll take care of the nonbelievers anyway
