Axe of the Unyielding got nerfed?

in Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
I didn't notice this until today, but Axe of the Unyielding +5 only regenerates 1 hp/round (BG2:EE) instead of the original 3 hp/round (BG2).

Why would it get nerfed? It's literally the only good end-game axe and isn't acquired until 75% through ToB.

    There's also the returning +4 throwing axe which is really good.
