Alan Rickman, one of the best-loved and most warmly admired British actors of the past 30 years, has died in London aged 69.

One of my favourite actors! I just have no words, only sorrow.

"Look at me! LOOK AT ME!"...

“Actors are agents of change,” he said. “A film, a piece of theatre, a piece of music, or a book can make a difference. It can change the world.”

Obviously, Alan Rickman was one of the best such agents. Rest in peace, Alan!

First David Bowie, now Alan Rickman too... Both by cancer.

"By Grabthar's hammer, by the suns of Worvan, you shall be avenged."

Strange that he was the same age as Bowie, too.

I remember first seeing him in Die Hard. He made THE BEST villain in that.

My wife once had took a master class with Alan Rickman when she was in London. She used to joke that Alan Rickman was the only man she'd ever consider leaving me for.

I guess this news should, then, give me some sense of security. Instead, I just feel sad.

Both age 69, too. Strange how entirely similar these both were. Sadly, I can't put anything in about Mr. Rickman myself. I don't really watch movies, I admit, so I don't know him. Nevertheless, may he rest in peace.

He had an amazing voice and phenomenal timing and presence in the roles he played.

I read that he was given the role in Die Hard only a couple days after moving to Hollywood. They probably took one look at him (and his voice) and said, "Let's just create a movie around him."

And before the week was over, BOTH Celine Dion's husband AND brother died of cancer as well.

    Just tragic.

Incidentally, Glenn Frey of the Eagles has also just died, though not of cancer according to reports.
