Can PCs be "chunked"?

In vanilla IE games PCs could be chunked (totally dead beyond Raise Dead ... the PC image vanishes from the sidebar). There were some mods developed to prevent this, and they worked somewhat, but total death couldn't always be prevented. Anyway, can PCs be chunked in EE games?

Yes they can (on Core difficulty or higher). Be careful.

When a pc has few hit points left and suffers a massive damage, he is chunked and is perma-dead. Pyschial damage such as crushing, slashing, piercing can do this, mostly in critical hits or backstabs or even both! As well as elemental discharges like fire, acid, lightning and cold. One exception:Pure Magical damage never perma kills. even if your 1 hp caharacter takes a horrid wilting to the face, he will be raisable. Missile attacks like arrows hardly ever perma kill, if they ever.

In addition to massive damage when few hp left, some spells can perma kill too. Especially in iwd, finger of death perma kills as well, so any character thus slain is gone forever. Ditto for disintegrate, but that is much more obvious. There are enemies that can cast these spells at your party, so beware!

You might be able to chunk a PC, but I don't suggest that you try it, unless it's a really old computer that you want to get rid of... but even still, you'd have to clean up all the fragments of the computer that were scattered across the room, and that would be a real pain.
