If bg is a movie, which class make sense

Hi

I just dreamin about bg the movie :D what do you think, which class fit to hollywood's taste ? Imagine the duel against sarevok, or against irenicus. I think it would be a fighter, as a classic heroes journey, starts as an innocent and become hero. And swordsplay looks awesome in movies, and there is something heroic hard to fight with sword against a mage, like conan.
Whats your opinion ?

that would fit the Bhaalspawn theme very good if not the best.

actually "Real" magic in the D&D universe takes a lot more than the game shows , reagents is just one of them..would you feel heroic cutting that guy in a badly fitting robe up that just was fishing for Bat-poop in his fanny bag trying to cast a fireball for which he spend about 10ish Minutes reading after a hard 12 Hour day march at the dim campfire..

also while swordplay in movies is flashy and looks neat it has nothing to do with actual sword fighting...which is fast brutal and over in a few moves with one guy dying or dead on the floor..

If I were to make a bg movie..The main character would be a paladin a strong sentimental guy . . Or is it too much wow.. Then I would drag this huge blond guy down to all the thieves, robbers and swashbuckler - another main a dark haired mean sorceress. But not too much Hollywood here there got to be something behind nothing for the sake of an effect

A fighter mastering the arcane arts. It would be better if they made a tv-show rather than a movie IMO.

    Arnold Schwarzenegger is Minsc.

    No? Look at Mr. Freeze.

Arnold is a FEW DECADES too old now for Minsc :) but how about Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (aka the Mountain Game of Thrones) shave him bald slap some face-paint on and give him a Hamster... that would make a Movie~

Well...Charname needs to stand out. And here is what the party looks like in BG2.

    Minsc (large brute force fighter)
Jaheira (femme fatale and love interest)
Yoshimo (charismatic rogue-ish character who betrays you)

Because Yoshimo is replaced by Imoen, who is a thief/mage...this doesn't leave much options for Charname.

I actually think that given the above...the best option for him would be a fighter/thief. Why?

    (1) He can't be a warrior, as that'd overlap with Minsc
    (2) He can't be a healer, as that'd overlap with Jaheira
    (3) He can't be pure thief, as that'd overlap with Yoshimo
    (4) He can't be a mage, as that'd overlap with Imoen (and take away from her draw when introduced into the film)

Now, thematically a fighter/thief can sneak around, but not as well as Yoshimo. He can front line, but not as well as Minsc. As a thief, he gets the "face" style going which helps explain why Jaheira falls for him. Eventually he gets "use any item" which is important for him being able to use the magic mcgubbin which inevitably will fall into their hands. He gets to be relevant in every part of the film, without coming across as a mary sue who is best at everything.

To add to it, the thief stronghold works best from a film point of view.

    (1) Wake up in the dungeon
    (2) Investigate shadow thieves
    (3) Yoshimo's quest introduces the audience to the shadow thieves and how they work, also doubles as the stronghold questline
    (4) As a guild leader, raising money to rescue imoen, this brings him into contact with the vampire guild. That segways nicely into the main questline
    (5) After the underdark, he has a real reason to be able to go ask for help in taking down Bodhi once and for all. And these "assassins" go well in making the fight seem "dangerous" as nameless mooks are easy to kill for that purpose.

To put it a different way (Firefly)

    Charname: Captain Reynolds
Jaheira: Alleyne/Serra mix (where Khalid was Wash)
Minsc: A very nice version of Jayne
    Imoen: River

They would more or less fit those themes. For those who watched Firefly, you can see what I think that a fighter/thief makes for a good charname.

    @Grum

why not a Monk ? he did grow up in a Cloister/Library Fortress . a Knowledgeable man trying to bring Balance in his Party and inner Self..he wouldn't be a Fighter,Thief,Mage or Healer...but he could Draw strength out his Inheritance allowing him to overcome the greatest "oh shit moments" by tapping into this Inhuman Power and save the day like no other party member could, giving a great chain to becoming the Slayer after Losing his Soul , the only thing keeping those Powers in check.

also there are no NPC Monks in the Classic BG2 so he wouldn't run in any possible companions inflicting with his special role.

I would say a Vanilla Bard or Fighter/Mage.

That's a good idea. He'd be a fist-mage, chanenneling his magic through his body. Goes well with the bhaalspawn powers too.

I think fighter mage dual has a great character arc. An epic face off with swords clashing with Sarevok at the end of BG, then dual class in BG2 due to Irenicus' experiments, and an epic mage face off at the end of BG2.

And what if fighter, and after irenicus dungeon, become wizard slayer, rebalanced version, there is no rules in movies.

If we're talking hollywood, then CHARNAME would undoubtably be a male, caucasian paladin(cavalier) or vanilla fighter.

I would only add that, without the game constraints, he would dual class to sorcerer so it is his inner power being awaken.

Agree on the male-cauc, but no way would Hollywood do a paladin. A dual-wielding ranger or swashbuckler is much more likely.

The former sounds more like the cool, edgy but tormented emo side-kick and the latter sounds like the goofy, fun and likable side-kick. Neither takes the lead role in a hollymovie IMHO ;)

The pc will be good or neutral allignement, rare to see any evil protagonists. And definitely some fighter type, but none from the existing kits.
