dragon immunities. NEed info

Is there a list somewhere of all the stuff concerning dragons in baldur's gate?

> What are their common immunities?

> Is there a website where I can check AD&D dragons?

> IS the alignment forced on them? Could a silver dragon become evil?

> They got fire breath and what?

> Can they cast spells due to the fact that they are dragons? Or are they mages?

If you know the name of the dragon in particular, the Baldur's Gate Wiki is a fair stop. Their info needs some updating, but it's not too bad.

As for other questions, as far as I'm aware, it's in a dragon's nature to be as it is. While I'm sure it's not completely impossible for, say, a Gold Dragon to be Chaotic Evil instead of Lawful Good, it's probably so rare as to be thought as such. There are plenty of nice articles at the Forgetten Realms Wiki on Dragons.

This site contains very detailed info about all ad&d monsters. Including dragons, even the fabulous pink dragon!
    http://www.lomion.de/cmm/_index.php

Note that bg dragons are signifcantly beefed up in stats, in most cases.

Dragons are immune to stuff you expect them to be immune to:backstab, criticals, sleep, stun, hold, knock back, slow, charm, and their corresponding element. Red and gold dragons are immune to fire, blue:lightning, green:poison, brown/black:acid, silver:cold, etc. Red blasts a fire breath, blue has a devastating chain lightning like breath, green releases a poison blast that does instant, high poison damage, black has a line and cone effect of acid, plus entangle/insect like spells, brown has the same breath but with a love for invisibility spells and summoning invisible stalkers instead, silver has the same in cold damage, also a bonus paralysing breath, shadow has a level draining breath that can take 10+ levels in one go and blinds, but the drain is not permanent, just lasts enough for the battle. (and can instantly and permanently destroy an npc if its level reaches zero, they just vaporise to nothing!) Nearly all dragon breaths offer a save vs breath weapon for half damage, in shadow's case, half level drain. Also all dragons radiate fear continously, those failing saves turn tail and run, so remove fear/resist fear or the dragon slayer sword is a must. You can not trust saving throws for this effect, the penalty to the save is somewhat huge.

In bg their alignments match with what you expect, there is no good aligned red dragon or an evil silver one. The rule of the thumb is:dragons! Color-coded for your convenience: If it has a metallic tinge, it is good. If it is a pastel colour, it is evil. If it is gem like, it is neutral. (no gem dragons in bg)

Dragons are not immune to confusion or feeblemind, or petrification/polymorph or instant death like disintegration or vorpal hits, slay living/finger of death. At least in SoA. ToB dragons get immunity to instant death effects IIRC, including the ones found in Watchers Keep. Also in ee, one particular dragon boss in ToB gains immunity to time stop. Note that many ToB bosses are immune to common disablers and death effects.

Great post. When you write this all out, it really shows what kind of dragon slayers cavaliers are.

+3 to hit and +3 dmg vs dragons
Immune to fear (and can cast remove fear for his party)
Immune to poison (take that green dragons)
20% resistance to fire and acid (take that red and black dragons)

Add in the amulet of power for immunity to level drain (take that shadow dragons) and some elemental resist items...and you have a character tailored to ending the lives of dragons.

(Well...except for that entire getting stomped into goo, but you can't have everything)

Interestingly, in Throne of Bhaal there is a dragon with a unusual alignment: Saladrex. Red dragons are normally always Chaotic Evil but lovely vain Saladrex is only Chaotic Neutral.
