Flame Tongue Sword and Stealth

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
So, my elf Fighter/Thief is standing near an enemy in stealth and he's holding a sword that's basically a bonfire and the enemy can't see him. Realistic?

    Item Revisions adds a stealth penalty when using flaming swords. :#

    Your FT has disguised himself as a tiki-torch.

    Presumably the wielder commands the sword to stop burning while he/she is sneaking around, and lights it again when he/she is about to strike.
