Spirited barbarians

Has anyone tried parring a barbarian with a mage eager to cast Spirit Armor on said barbarian? Spirit Armor would seem to nullify the greatest drawback of the barbarian - the lack of proper armor. Spirit armor draws some HP, but hey, Barbarians have lots of these anyhow. And, bonus: +3 in saves vs. magic.

Here's the description of Spirit Armor from BG wiki:

"Spirit Armor provides target AC 1(like full plate), it doesn't stack with other armors however bonuses from dexterity, rings and shield count, additionaly target recieves +3 bonus in saves vs. magical attacks.

When spell ends target has to make save vs. spell or lost 2D4 hit points

As of Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition, having this spell active will prevent you from saving the game as well as from resting."

The chain mail is not a really drawback, maybe the lack of grandmastery it is. There are great chain mails, and nobody use in a team, and barbarian more hp is to compensate the armor. In bg2 there are chains that equal to plate mails.
But if you want to dual barbarian to mage, go :D but berserker is easier, and get the almost same character without editing files via NI or ee keeper.

There are quite a few mods that will allow you to dual barbarian. It sounds like a good combo.

I was actually thinking of this scenario:

    You have one barbarian
    And (at least) one mage.

The mage dedicates all his 4th level spells to Spirit Armor. Then throws them at the barbarian at leisure.

Spirit Armor, in opposition to Ghost Armor, can target any character in your group, not just the mage himself.
Thus you don't need dual class shenanigans, you just need a friendly mage who will dedicate his level 4 spell slots

You can try it, and combine with ring of protection x. But it always has a chance to get an unwanted dispel.

Imho, Barbarians should be allowed to get 4 pips in those weapon categories that are relatively ungifted with magical weapons in the three BG games.
    Axes? Halberds? Spears?

Dual wield axes are great in the whole game, halberds are great too, spears are lacking.
