Lost mausoleum key

in Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition
just outside of kresselacks tomb i killed the mummy with the mausoleum key but then got into the big fight in the room with the switch in it...one of my characters died...i couldnt get all the loot back i resurrected the dead characters went back and i mustve left the mausoleum key on the ground. I already saved over my previous save now i cant open the room to the northeast of the switch because i dont have the mausoleum key any more. I hope i dont have to start over...

    If you have access to the console the item you want is kaymaus.itm. If not, you can probably use either NearInfinity or EEKeeper to put that item into your inventory.

    I don't get it: why can't you backtrack to the place you lost the key and retrieve it from the ground?

    I can't believe I misspelled it. keymaus.itm

    Sometimes, dropped items will disappear or won't have a "ground pile" icon that you can see. The item is still marked in the game as "yes, it is on the ground at such-and-such coordinates" but without an icon you can't pick it up.

    You have gone over the area in question with the Quick-Loot bar, yes?
