Mage Hitpoints Bug?

in Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition
Well, I just became a mage at level 1 and when I leveled (two levels) I ended up with 2 hitpoints. I have the "max HP on level up" option set. Is this a bug?

    Oh wait.. nm.. I didn't realize I start the game as a level 3 fighter. So I guess I have to wait for level 3 mage to see max HP restored.
