Major Problem - Loading MP game w/ Friend results in "password required" then nothing happens.

in Troubleshooting
BG:EE froze and I had to ctrl alt delete it. Now my friend is unable to join my game at all. He joins, but once the game is loaded, he can't get in.
This only started happening after i killed the game via the task manager. I'm really desperate to get this fixed. (Starting over isn't an option.)
we're both using the latest Non-beta version. I'm on Steam and he's on Gog.

    @Sar_Yehudah, don't know what the problem is but this is what I would do as part of troubleshooting...

    Both close the game
    Both open baldur.lua and delete the following lines:
    -----------------
    SetPrivateProfileString('Multiplayer','Enable Chat Menu','1')
    SetPrivateProfileString('Multiplayer','Player Name','Gus')
    SetPrivateProfileString('Multiplayer','Session Name','Gus')
    SetPrivateProfileString('Multiplayer','Last Protocol Used','2')
    SetPrivateProfileString('Multiplayer','Disable Banters','1')
    SetPrivateProfileString('Multiplayer','Session Password','')
    -----------------
    Save baldur.lua
    Restart and retry connecting.


    Something may have corrupted when you had to crash out...


    Couple more Qs:
    I take it that both of you are able to start a new game or continue an old saved game without problems?

    Also, although restarting is not an option, have you tried restarting just to make sure that it isn't the saved game with the problem?

    Could you upload the saved game.

    No. We've tried 2 saves back. they aren't working.

    Good News. Your fix did it. Not sure why it worked. It did. How can i avoid this in the future if the game locks up? do i just wait until it unlocks? What if it stays locked?

    There are problems with multiplayer which are being looked at for the update, so it may be that you will need to continue to work around until the update is released (or try the beta out which still seems to have some probs fixed but others identified). It is good to hear the you are now playing again...

    As far as my comment goes, yeah copied the wrong link into it... sorry. If you do a search on multiplayer in the forum, you will find a number of discussions about the MP games and the problems/work arounds (or not).

    really???? it came out in 2012 and they STILL have bugged MP? This is ridiculous.
