UAI and Special NPC Armor

I created a Shadowdancer in TOB to test some things out. I used EEKeeper to bump him to a high enough level to get UAI. I then summoned Jan to the Pocket Plane. I tried putting that Jansen family armor on the Shadowdancer and I got an insufficient dexterity message. I bumped his dex up to 20 and I tried again. I then got a message saying the item could not be equiped. I summoned Keldorn and tried on his armor with the same result.

Is this something new that a thief with UAI can't wear an NPCs armor? I was able to equip Jan's crossbow. It's been a while since I had a thief in TOB so I really can't remember how UAI worked with special armor.

Is this intended or some kind of bug?

I think it was something that was fixed by the EEs. You can't wear NPC armor anymore, even with UAI and sufficient stats.

Though I believe there is a mod floating around the BG2EE modding section that will let you do that again.

As far as I'm aware you aren't able to use any of the NPC only equipment with UAI now (Cernd's staff/cloak, Keldorn/Jan/Valygar's armor, etc
