BG EE help with multiplayer.

Can someone tell me how to start multiplyer in BG EE.
I would want a guide which is good for 2018. Guides i found where very old.
1.my friend has BG EE on steam and i have on GOG. Is this a problem?
2. my frined only has BG EE and i have BG EE with Dragonspear. Is this a problem?
3. We have the same game patch. 2.3.67.3
4. When i am in multiplayer lobby i see other games. If i try to join games without password i am hanging on "Waiting from information from server". This happens for all servers without password protection. I never joined multiplayer session before.

    GoG and Steam should not be a problem as long as game versions are the same. You having installed SoD could be an issue so try it again without SoD enabled.
