Registered just to confirm how amazingly annoying it is to have a rock solid game crash right at the end. Had to go watch the final video on YouTube! Priority fix pls?
There is no way to continue playing the endgame. Sarevok dies and the game crashes. Sometimes the cutscene plays and final save is created but when I load the final save, the game quits back to main menu. Until a fix comes, sadly off to play other games.
Yep, happened here as well. I managed to kill Sarevok after Semaj died. Angelo and Tazok didn't come until a few seconds before Sarevok fell, so they were very much alive except for the one skull trap they got. Then almost immediately after the notification for char1.chr had been created did the game crash to desktop. And I have the latest patch (like all of you I guess).
Edit: Did it again, this time I killed all of his lackeys first. Somewhat choppy cinematic, must be an issue with the dump memory cache.

The final save is intentionally not continued. It is to import into BG2(EE). You will need a mod to continue playing after sarevok is dead.

I still have version 2011 crash dump file of this, but no way to upload a 100mb+ zip file.
I think the procedure was recently changed, but I'm not sure. Certainly, @Messi, if you could upload the file to ge.tt as suggested above or Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. and e-mail the link to support@beamdog.com this will get addressed quickly. Those dumps point them directly to the source of the problem and they have been very successful fixing them.

Thanks for the instructions. Uploaded to ge.tt and sent email to dpennyway@beamdog.com. Hope you guys can fix this since it's kinda of a downer to crash right after the final boss.
Came back to fight Sarevok after trying before the last patch. Did all the expansion content. Still crashes after defeating him. Epic battle. But Epic crash after. Bummer.

I know. The issue is that the game always crashes to desktop everytime you kill Sarevok. It does not properly return to the main menu ever. Also, one would expect the game to end when all enemies in the final room killed, not just tied to Sarevok's death. This makes the final battle a little say... unsatisfactory.
I experienced a crash when first defeating Sarevok too yesterday, before the ending sequence started. It didn't crash to desktop though, it just became unresponsive permanently, so I had to force quit it using task manager. After restarting the game, I beat Sarevok 3 times or so, and it didn't crash any of them.

About the last thing I recall was it said it was going to save the game and export the characters.
The game made a crashdump file.
BG screen froze but I could switch back to Windows and from the Task Manager I was able to end the game.

- compress the dump file using WinRar or 7-zip or whatever you prefer. Even Windows has a really basic inbuilt zip-archiver nowadays...
- if you cant send the compressed file via mail to support@beamdog.com, you also can
- use something like ge.tt (no registration necessary) and send the generated upload link instead.
