@Magevil that is really nice !

but I will remove that Irenicus close to the "Ground" window. It's a little bit too much I think...

And around that windows is it possible to change that brown background ?

@neoesprit - i will release a couple different version as I already stated. :) Hopefully you can find one that appeals to your taste.

@Seldar - there will be other options to choose from...plain, BG1, and BG2 inventory screens. Thanks.

Irenicus definitely doesn't fit here. I would prefer normal, non-artistic background. In my opinion it's just no place for arts. But i like how you shifted few slots. Just remove art and it will be perfect (and if you can't just replace Irenicus with Sarevok saving Irenicus for BGII:EE GUI)
EDIT: If possible recolor those two slots for cloth colors - those grey squares doesn't match rest.

wow looks promising ! I like the idea of the picture behind but Irenicus creeps me out ! if it's not too complicated I'll maybe able to do it myself if you could explain how to ^^ !

Anyway thx for your amazing work ;)

Me too. I actually don't know who that is but he's scary looking lol (don't spoil me, it's my first time playing). I'd prefer something more neutral. Like a landscape.
Is the background image a separate file? Like a .bmp? If it is maybe each user could customize it for them selves.

I agree with Irenicus looking a little odd there. Also, maybe it would be better to have a symmetrical background, so it looks a little more 'professional'? (although that said, yours looks better than Bioware's or Beamdog's combined)

I feel like a broken record....If you don't like the inventory screen then you can have the plan screen. There will be plenty of options. I've said this a few times already. Thanks for all your input. :)

No worries Magevil you can't please everyone and yeah modding is a harsh mistress ! I remember when I was modding BG II kits some years ago, people always asking the same questions in different ways =D

But know your work is fully appreciated =)

Sorry Magevil! :) I wasn't saying that I wanted the old inventory screen, just suggesting a modification to your one. :)

I am constantly fighting the urge to reply, "Read the dagblasted thread!" Hehe. :D I more often read a thread without ever posting. Inevitably, eleventy-five people will ask any question you may have eleventy-five times.

All good everyone. I'm really trying to find a middle ground between pleasing everyone else and myself. I started this just as a weekend project as a mod for myself and it just grew into this and it almost feels like a part time job vs weekend project, lol. When I first started I had never modded anything let alone the crazy infinity engine. That's ok though because I'm really enjoying it.

@Tome - by plain I mean my modified inventory interface without the extra jazz - background pictures and such. I'll have like 5+ inventory flavors to choose from...
  • ArchaicArchaic Member Posts: 924
I know this though - If overhaul eventually makes a BG3 they have a lot of work to do if they plan on improving the infinity engine. Its such a mess from what I can see anyways.
  • TomeTome Member Posts: 466
Ah, that clears it up. :) Just a misunderstanding, I thought you meant plain as in 'plain BG:EE'. Thanks for clearing it up, can't wait for v4!

I never touched the art in BG et BG 2 but if it's as hellish as the class / kit / spell / items / Npc modding, I feel your pain ^^

If one day, a BG3 rise from the ground, I hope the developpers will have the decency not to use the infinity engine (or at least a brand new version of it... but it seems that the base code was lost or something like that xD)

First I must say that I really, *really* love this Irenicus mosaic in the background. Though, I'd suggest to remove the small Irenicus picture there because I want to see more of this awesome mosaic. :P

It would be even better if you could do something for the upper half of the inventory menu background as well, since it feels a bit neglected at the moment. For example, you could change Overhaul's bland, yellow and utterly ugly 'Inventory' (together with all the other yellow and out-of-place menu titles) to something more... artistic. Mosaic titles for instance would be gorgeous ;)

@Kamigoroshi - That is an excellent idea about the mosaic titles however I have no clue how to implement it. I will have to keep it in mind and poke around...Thanks.

I was going to like the silver icon set, but the gold set has started to grow on me-now I think that it's not worth your hard work and time. I do second the mosaic suggestion, that's genius.

    @Magevil
I'm glad that my mosaic title suggestion is so well received here. Guess brainstorming from time to time has its uses after all! :) Creating mosaic fonts in Photoshop is really easy to do, but at the same time I'm clueless as to how to import them into BG:EE.... Are the menu titles implented as coloured coded text, or as picture panels?

Out of gold, bronze and silver-blue, I'd probably use the bronze icons. Somehow my art sense tells me that the colour silver-blue wouldn't really fit in enough with the rest of the GUI. But then again... without a visual I can only guess how they could look like. Needless to say I'm eagerly awaiting a bone/ivory icon choice at some point in the future. =D

@Kamigoroshi - The text is implemented separately from the UI graphics is really all I know. I haven't run across fonts yet but its something I'm going to look into down the road.

Good news! BETA 4.0 will be out tonight with 4 custom inventory screens: Dragon Mosaic, Irenicus Mosaic, Plain (with GUI enhancements), and Sword Coast Mosaic. Now the fun part of putting all the screenshots and downloads together in a neat package. See you soon! :)

Please, do something with that ugly arrow which can expand 'chat' window :D
  • ArchaicArchaic Member Posts: 924
@nemeyeth - It is on the agenda for the next release. Thanks for the feedback.

Absolutely amazing work, I'm sure it took quite a bit of effort. thanks for doing this :)
I do have a small complaint though, the edges around the inventory, the borders around all the quickslots, weapon and equipment slots look a bit iffy to me, if that could possibly be changed it would be great, it's just a suggestion, as you have done enough already :)
  • ArchaicArchaic Member Posts: 924
@doodles Inventory screen without borders looks worse. It looks unorganized and empty. Thanks.
