Let's follow the adventures of Balduran to the shores of Anchorome and we can still call it Baldur's Gate 3.

They already said that ToB will be a part of BG2:EE, and I don't really see that changing. It would be great though!

Personally I'd like to see a game set during the War of the Lance, with major story arcs based on a choice between supporting the Chromatic or Metallic side (say, following a critical juncture at the end of chapter 1?).

Ideally the story would be separate from the main story everyone knows but cross over periodically.

I'm not sure if Krynn is still popular at all amongst the RPG crowd (or the material difficult to license) but I remember reading the books quite fondly as a kid ... the backdrop feels like it would be a good setting for a shiny new story with familiar overtones and background? The progress of the war had enough argy bargy that there should be room for heroic and evil players to rise.

or an option to stay with the Bhaalspawn legacy, do the Time of Troubles.

the Higher Level Encounters and bosses could be the fallen Gods.

a party of adventures trying to make their fortune in the chaotic times? some cameos from characters we've met in BG trilogy thrown in there too?

Actually that is a damn interesting idea!
