@ScarsUnseen Just making sure you didn't feel run-over- particularly since I liked the idea and had typed up a post on your thread when it was so cruelly and wickedly and monstrously (according to the Monstrous Manual) obliterated and destroyed and oblit- um, messed up!... well, closed... And, yes, it's good you've found your way to this thread too. You may be right about the usefulness of thread owners being less possessive of the threads they manage that way. Hm, this gives me an idea...
And as for Boo we just have to pick him up to- *meep!*
@Bhryaen That is, of course, the biggest concern with umbrella threads. The OP kind of has to remain neutrally inclusive of all ideas presented for them to work well. Even so, if this means that the devs just have to sift through several pages of large threads instead of hundreds of pages of similar ones, I'd call that progress.
@Coriander Oh no, I agree with the decision. Better to have multiple aspects of a discussion contained within a single thread than to have things devolve to the point where you see a page full of subtly different elf threads.
@AndreaColombo I did not know!! I think it's cool!!! We will see how good is he!!! @Akerhon Don't you think it looks more like a Fighter / Thief or a Fighter than a monk / mage?
"Paperdolls" Yes I think that is something to improve and add some more detail. Also the portraits were really good, if they could add some more portraits in that same art style would be awesome! Also, if there could be like 2 portraits, like there was of jaheira and we could choose would be great too.

He looks like a monk to me what with the bald head and robes (and bonus mystical artwork on his face). If he had a beard or hair then I'd say he would be a mage since he's hairless - monk.
Something I think needs to be fixed is paper dolls in the inventory, because a lot of it doesn't make sense, a person puts on a robe, and it just changes the color a little bit, I think paper dolls should actually portray what the character is wearing, if you put on a robe, it shows a robe; if you put on a girdle, show the girdle; if you put on bracers show them, and so forth. Also it wouldn't hurt to have more diversity for things like multi and dual class characters.
Something along these lines has already been requested here. Since @TrentOster has already said that more/new paperdolls are being considered, I think it makes sense to merge both threads as this request sort of complements the other. @Tanthalas?
Paper dolls are really a war of an epic sort. My first reaction is to back away screaming. My next reaction is to reach for the flamethrower and burn it all down and start anew. My third and likely correct action is to calm down, dig a bit deeper into the problems and see what we can do without re-doing everything. Right now we're not looking at this, the rest of the UI is causing us too much grief.

Could it be something that gets fixed post-ship, or DLC?

This sounds like we're not going to get HD paperdolls to go with the new, HD GUI :-( At this point, I would second @sepotter's request for new, more diversified and HD paperdolls as post-release DLC. Something like that would really do justice to a game like Baldur's Gate, and with the source art having been lost, I think getting as many HD things as possible is a must.
As long as it falls under the scope of the time frame, or work load, I would like to see individual paper dolls for each of the viable party members. This would add individualization to each of your party members and give yourself a feel of individualization.

I see him well too as a mage/thief over that mage/monk

I have put forth a request for more portraits here.
Thanks! My code was apparently bugged ;-) Now it should be fixed in my post, too.
