Weapon Proficieny Question

Is that normal that we can assign only two slots of proficieny to a weapon as a fighter? Premade fighter Abdel has three slots on his longsword proficieny. If he can have it, why can't we?

It's normal to be limited to 2 slots in any weapon at character creation (you can add more at later levels). I'm not sure why Abdel is able to, guess he's just special.

More to the point, how do I get rid of Abel and the rest of the pre-made. Don' want or need 'em. They should be deletable, but they're not.

Would be nice. I always delete the noob characters in the other versions. And because like most of the vanilla characters, he's a cheating MFer. And really..they chose him as the main character for those god-awful novels....hardly who you want to be emulating.

There should be a folder that has the pre-generated characters.

That folder only contain the characters that the player has made. The pre-generated ones are hidden away somewhere in the game files.

@ZanathKariashi Those novels were indeed very painful.

I think 'painful' is a requirement for most game novels.

Gah, there was more than one? I read Baldur's Gate, wiped my eyes out with bleach and burned the copy. Didn't realize they made a BG2, ugh.

@reedmilfam The pre-generated characters are inside Misc.bif. Use NearInfinity or DLTCEP if you really want to delete them.

They made all 3, but ToB was done by a different author, who just tried to make the most of what that train wreck had left him with.

I mean seriously....seriously...it's like someone gave the author a list of names and places and a paragraph synopsis and said to run with it. 99.9% of the character have no resemblance to their VERY well defined in-game appearances, personalities, or connections.

I've yet to find someone who actually played the games, who doesn't become absolutely disgusted from reading those...THINGS!?...

Doesn't work, removing the cha files from the Misc causes the game to crash when you attempt to start a new game. Though I might just be doing this wrong...Anyone else more skilled in the use of editing tools got it work?

Exactly. Why randomly change the NPCs? If I recall correctly, Xan is some cool, confident swordsman in the book, and at one point he arm wrestles a half-ogre for information. There's, like, no way to mess up original Xan. Having him say "We're all DOOMED!" in the book would have been excellent. Bah.

Or Minsc being a burly red-head with thick wild hair and an epic beard and mustache.....and no animal companion at all. Or Khalid being an abusive womanizer. Or Jaheria being a submissive, passive damsel in distress unable to do anything on her own....do I really need to go further?

Oy, I managed to block that all out. Terrible stuff.

I think someone got the notes backwards on Khalid and Jaheria based on that. :D
