A full patch note for each update would be appreciated

Aasimar069Aasimar069 Member Posts: 803
Since we'd like to know exactly what improvements or nerfs the last update brings.

When they decide to break the spawn rate for casual gamers on iPad (the new spawn system is not the same as Vanilla BG, it's still flawed and unchallenging).

When they decide to nerf an item because XXXX on the forum hate XXX item because it's supposedly overpowered in a solo or cooperative game (do not use it if you don't like it !).

When we'd like to know if the issues concerning the AI scripts are finally fixed (as well as the no-comply-to-orders bugs).

So for all this reasons and others, a full patch note for each update would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

Full patch notes are unfortunately far too uncommon in the whole videogame industry.

Well, modern games tend to release comprehensive patch notes dont they? Can not think of any exception right now anyway. At least a stickied run down in the forum is normal.

I do have to say, the newest patch notes seem to be full.

I demand and submit that we receive fully ISO compliant change documentation surrounding every single character of code or game resource altered, each and every time. Every player of the game must read (using a system that enforces and verifies said reading) said documentation and sign off on the changes (using a system that fully authenticates said signature to satisfy all legal requirements) before they can be committed to a deployed update (which must of course contain documentation providing a thorough analysis of each change, no matter how trivial, including gameplay impact statements, supporting evidence, etc.)

    It's for the greater good.

So, how often has this happened?

I don't know, I do not have instant and illimited access to all items.

But unless an item or anything else is bugged, it should not be touched by anybody.

I do not play with Algernon's cloak, but I can understand that players are not happy to see that something was working in vanilla BG1 not longer works anymore.

I don't think these players have bothered anybody in multiplayer or whetever to lead to that nerf.

@Nukenin : This isn't necessary either, but at least gameplay/items/main bug fixes changes should be great.

This isn't a huge company that has it's own community person to do stuff like this. Rather have them give the highlights and concentrate on actually working on the game.

I was in modest jest, of course. I think the current change reporting is adequate.

I furthermore demand timesheets for all employees, documenting man-(or woman-)hours spent, allocated per bug, as well as a character count of the code changes and how many hamsters bit eyeballs during the programming changes! The public must know!

    < / sarcasm >

Actually, I think that the forum notes have kept me informed and in the loop. I'd rather they find and kill bugs than send notes that few actually need. If you have questions, use the forum for that update, for there is a wealth of information in them thar forums.

Algernon's Cloak was confirmed to be an actual bug. Yes even back in original Baldur's Gate its behaviour was never intended.

You can check out the thread, respectivly the explanation:

    Then that's good, Thanks

    @Elendar
    CLUAConsole: CreateItem("Pizza01", 5)
    CLUAConsole: SetLocalVariable("Munchies", 1)

    Done. ;)

And yet the two fore mentioned bugs are not fixed and people are still complaining about it ;-)

Agreed. And please fix those fonts. Just increase them a little!
