Best party members for story/interaction/entertainment

Hi All

Just started playing through Baldur's Gate (second time, first time was several years ago but have now forgotten most of it). I wondered what the best party members were story wise? I'm not really bothered if I end up with a party that's not very balanced, I'm in it more for story, quests, party interaction etc.

I know a lot of it will be down to opinion, so it may be better to say which characters to stay away from if they are generally disliked or have little involvement in the game besides killing enemies.

I'll be playing BG2:EE when that comes out so ill probably build a party consisting mostly of characters that are in BG2 too, though if I'm not mistaken I could fill all 5/6 slots if i do this?

    Start off with a low Chr CN character.

    Recruit Khalid, Jaheria, Monteron, and Xzar
    Followed by Neera

    Run around Nashkel until two slots open up and recruit Edwin and Minsc. Go do the gnoll stronghold
    Recruit Dyn

    Return to Nashkel and drop one group (Either K&J, M&X or M&D) and recruit Raased.

    Go find the bandit camp and recruit Vic. Do Neera's and Raased's personal quests. Drop Neera (unless you are romancing her) and go pick of Kivan

    Listen to the lovers bicker for a bit, drop them both. Go pick of Eldoth and Dorn.
