Weird stuff going on with BG:EE Journal-Quest entries deleted-please help!

So I just recently started Chapter Three, and the Quests and Done Quests sections of my journal have been wiped except for some stuff about the Nashkel Mines. This shows up no matter WHICH chapter I select, and all of my other notes are no longer listed. My user journal is unaffected, and most of the stuff from the main journal is still there but I can't be sure if it's all there because I wasn't keeping track of it.
...Also, Xan just joined my party. It said the journal was updated with something about that, but it WASN'T.
In addition, the text in the journal sometimes randomly bolds itself, and not in the normal way either, it just randomly turns to varying levels of BOLD. It's kind of hard to explain. I took a few screenshots.
Proof that it shows up in Chapter 2. This is the only entry in the quests tab. All others have disappeared.
Here's the same info in Chapter 3. The text has randomly gone bold, and will get either more or less bold if I move my cursor or try to scroll.
These are the only three topics left in the "Done Quests" tab. The same text is displayed in all three chapters and in the prologue.
I am running in fullscreen mode, but I had to switch to windowed mode to get these screenshots since the print screen button won't work in fullscreen mode.
If anyone knows how to fix this please tell me.
