If they are going to look at enhancing rather than creating beyond BG2EE (perfectly valid choice either way) I'll hope for Torment. Icewind Dale has it's good points but I consider it a lesser work that will always be in BG's shadow.
Going really old school, I'd love to see them convert the Dragonlance series to an IE game. Champions of Krynn, Death Knights of Krynn and Dark Queen of Krynn used to be the CRPG of choice much as BG was a decade or two later. Flesh out the story, add joinable NPC; much fun to be had.
Plus, we'd finally get the holy triumvirate of chaos available in a single D&D PC game
What would be the point of making an EE torment?...
slightly better graphics? HD resolution?
There's not really anything they can add to that game.

Champions of Krynn and all the Gold Box cRPGs were great for the time :-)
If we're doing to do a 3rd-ed framwork, try to add some Pathfinder stuff in here. I want to play a Summoner with an Eidolon Also, infinite cantrips ftw!

You could say the same about BG. Shine up the graphics, add a couple of new NPC's, optimise the engine and, most importantly, get it on my iPad
They all have their problems but 4e is barely even an RPG. I would say DnD next is my favorite but i've only played a few sessions so i'm not sure.. It is a lot like old dnd with 3 and 2 mixed in there.
What makes 4E so much like WoW? More importantly, how is WoW not an RPG? You go on adventures, fight monsters, collect loot, earn experience and level up, etc. Mechanically, that's the definition of RPG.

Agreed, I love PS:T to bits, but even with widescreen mods and other goodies, it can still be a pain to get running on newer systems - the spell system in particular has been causing me pain when I've tried it in recent years. Given the amount of love PS:T has in the community here and elsewhere, I think it'd be a prime candidate once the obvious choice of BG2:EE has been completed. Icewind Dale might be a more obvious choice after the BG though, as those games were a fair bit closer, mechanics-wise, to BG than Torment were.

But were the IWD series popular enough to capitalise on? Baldurs Gate and Planescape have a huge reputation and clearly still stand up decades later. Icewind Dale? That's a tougher investment sell.

That's true, but all things being equal, if PS:T is (say) a 2-year investment to make work, whereas IWD might be just 6 months per title, prospective sales for IWD doesn't need to reach BG levels to be profitable.
Of course, I'm just pulling numbers out of thin air here, and I don't even know how much more difficult Torment would be to work with - I just know that, on the surface at least, Torment appeared as the more unique title, engine-wise. Story and settings-wise there's no doubt it was the most unique (and IMO the best by far, too).
Addendum: I'm just playing devil's advocate here, because I definitely want PS:T more than just about any other game they could choose to enhance.
They're just game systems. The roleplaying is here*taps heart* and here*taps brain*. That never changes.
Also here*taps campaign setting*. And since 4E destroyed the Forgotten Realms setting and none of the others can be used in a new D&D game, D&D Next > all as far as new CRPGs go. D&D Next is purported to support all eras of play.

I'm really hoping that they didn't lose the Planescape art assets and we can have the awesome art style of PS:T in proper high definition. Even if we can't have that, they can include native support for higher resolutions, improve performance (instant save/load times are awesome), fix some bugs (especially a couple of sidequests which currently go nowhere, and misleading/nonsensical dialogue), make the GUI and combat more user-friendly and maybe even include some of the Unfinished Business content. They shouldn't touch Planescape's story, but there is a lot else about the game that would benefit from some polishing.

But I think Overhaul (as their moniker perhaps suggests) seem to be more about breathing new life into old games.
