All of the bhaalspawn were born to his priestesses and worshipers who volunteered to bare his children for his opportunity of rebirth. Gorion lead one of the Harper assault teams that interrupted the ritual ~20 years prior to the start of story. Though some of the priestesses, like Nialee came to love their child more then Bhaal and refused to kill them. Other Bhaalspawn matured enough that they could leave on their own, or their parents were killed, etc. It's explained in more detail in ToB.
Moar trivia: Bane did the same thing as Bhaal, with the difference that he actually succeeded. In D&D 3.0, Bane was resurrected from the body of the Banespawn, Iyachtu Xvim, with some accounts saying that he literally burst out from his son's body.
Maybe Bhaal should've just sired one child instead of spreading his essence around too much. Hey, it worked for Bane!
These assumptions of Dorn being Bhaalspawn are ridiculous. It would change way too much plotwise, enough for Overhaul not to be able to do it in the first place.
Besides, didn't Oster tweet once saying that he was disgusted at the thought of Imoen Romance? Why would he support Dorn romance then? Silly people...
There is no more reason to suppose that Dorn is a Bhaalspawn than there is to assume that, say, Neera is a Bhaalspawn.
The rest of your post I agree. But here, I don't.
You don't build an hypothesis if you can't put it to the test. If you can't put it to the test, you don't build an hypothesis.
In other words, it's more correct to simply assume Dorn isn't a Bhaalspawn until you are presented with evidence or strong suggestive material pointing to it. Currently everything points, by omission, to him not being a Bhaalspawn. It's a another way to look at Occam's Razor.
Otherwise, what you will in fact be doing is starting a faith.
Dorn being a romance option alone is enough to rule him out of being a possible Bhaalspawn.
Though before that was known it was nice to speculate that Overhaul might consider adding another possible Bhaalspawn to your party, but like others have said that would probably require story changes to accommodate.

That is, in essence, what I was getting at, even if that's not how it came across. You phrased it much better, certainly, so thanks.
Here's a little background where Ill khan came from.
Years ago when baldurs gate 2 was being developed there was much interaction between the fans on the forums and the developers. One of the more intelligent but belligerent fans went by the name gromnir Ill-khan on the forums. He was my first experience with what would be known now as a troll, but he was also quite well read and knowledgable. His signature on his posts read "hah! Good fun". He would often role-play a dim-witted barbarian in his posts if I remember correctly.
Two other fans that were well known on the forums went by draconis and lanfear. The devs put their names in game as a nod to the forum community.
As far as I can remember, Gromnir the forum member was without Il-Khan. That was only added to the character in-game I believe. Either way, yeah, Gromnir was a forum member, and well loved too - that is until BioWare made an uproar with their Easter egg appearances >.<

Really gives a new appreciation for it's simple magnificence

I haven't done it, but I'm pretty sure I've from all over this forum that Dorn is absolutely romancable by both male and female players.

Gromnir: Jealous much?
